Description
The Onar®Ls-QP system is an in vitro test for the quantitative and rapid PCR diagnosis of Legionella species in clinical samples. Onar®Ls-QP is CE-marked and approved for in vitro clinical diagnostics. The test system has undergone extensive internal validation, as well as external clinical evaluations.

Versatility Onar®Ls-QP is compatible with the LightCycler®, Rotor-GeneTM, Opticon®, ABI 7500®, SmartCycler®, Mx3000p® and other devices. Sensitive Detection of less than 10 Legionella particles per sample volume. Specific The primers used in the Onar®Ls-QP kit exclusively amplify Legionella species serogroups 1-14 and SG 16 of Legionella pneumophila, as well as other human pathogenic species of legionella (see page 44). Validated Clinically and technically validated according to the European In Vitro Diagnostic Directive. Excellent linearity Precise measurements over a wide dynamic range.

Please refer to Onar®Ls (page 44) for background information on legionella. Onar®Ls-QP incor­porates the highly-sensitive qPCR technology and overcomes all draw­backs of other techniques with its unique features.

Only purified DNA and Taq polymerase need to be added.

Test Principle
The Onar®Ls-QP test system is an in vitro test for the quantitative diagnosisof legionella in clinical samples. The supplied primer set and probe are specific for a segment of the 16S rRNA region of the legionella genome. The specific target probe emits fluorescent light at 520 nm. By using the supplied internal control, false-negative results, e.g. due to inhibition of the reaction by the sample matrix, can be excluded individually for each sample. The inter­nal control is detected by another probe emitting fluorescent light at ~610 nm (Type 1) or ~560 nm (Type 2). Onar®Ls-QP is compatible with the LightCycler®, Rotor-GeneTM, Opticon®, ABI Prism®, ABI 7500®, SmartCycler®, Mx3000pTM and other devices.
Detailed clinical studies confirm the high specificity and sensitivity of Onar®Ls-QP,permitting early identification of clinically significant legionella infections. The selected template is highly preserved within the Legionella species. Cross reactivity with pharyn­geal commensals does not occur. The detection limit is fewer than 10 genome equivalents per sample volume.
